Thom and I were in Detroit visiting a friend today, and our friend wanted to show us downtown. He took us though parts of downtown that would and did make you cry. Like this old house that has been burned and left for dead. The city can't afford to take them down, so they set. Our friend said the city will sell you the houses for $5,000. with the understanding you will live in them and fix them up.
Other houses like this one is being worked on and the people are able to live there while they are fixing it up.
And then there is this one. Now that the work is finished, this house would be worth upwards of a million dollars in it's time. If this house were in one of the out areas of Detroit, but not downtown, they could easily get the money. All over the downtown area, there are empty lots and a lot of burned out houses waiting for somebody who will come in and restore them. Manual: Page 37 "Using the Scene Mode: Landscape"
