Welcome!

January 1, 2011 is the first day of a new year, and the second year I will try to attempt to post a photo every day for the next 365 days. It didn't work out so well last year. But as a New Years resolution, I have decided to try the 365 Day Photography challenge again.

120/365 Fruit Salad

Thom and I are trying to eat better and healthier. This fruit salad is a start.

119/365 International Shuttlecocks...

Americans call these badminton birds. My husband bought these because they are old. He will sell them on eBay. I like the name, I think it's interesting.

118/365 Rusty Bike Peddle

This old bike is on display in front of our house. I'm not thrilled having it for the world to see in our front yard, but my husband likes it so I live with it. It does make a good photo subject. I used the Food Mode to take this picture because it is the best setting for taking super close ups.

117/365 Downtown Detroit

Thom and I were in Detroit visiting a friend today, and our friend wanted to show us downtown. He took us though parts of downtown that would and did make you cry. Like this old house that has been burned and left for dead. The city can't afford to take them down, so they set. Our friend said the city will sell you the houses for $5,000. with the understanding you will live in them and fix them up.
Other houses like this one is being worked on and the people are able to live there while they are fixing it up.

And then there is this one. Now that the work is finished, this house would be worth upwards of a million dollars in it's time. If this house were in one of the out areas of Detroit, but not downtown, they could easily get the money. All over the downtown area, there are empty lots and a lot of burned out houses waiting for somebody who will come in and restore them.

116/365 New Camera

This is me and my new Nikon Coolpix L 100...new to me. We got it on eBay after bidding and bidding and not winning. We waited for three weeks before we finally won one. It's a "Salesman Sample". This means it may have been a store display model. It may not have been used by customers.

It has a 15x optical zoom lens and 10 megapixels. I like it. It takes great pictures. Yes, my husband spoils me. This is my new forever camera.

115/365 Beebe

Out on a run, she is still a good looking dog. She could have been a service dog because she is very smart. Or she could have been a show dog. A pretty sexy girl. She is a very special dog.

114/365 Tulip

I love this close of a tulip. This is my favorite flower. Every year in Holland Michigan, on Mother's Day weekend, they have a tulip fest. They have field upon fields of this special flower. The view is outstanding.

113/365 Close up of Cisco

I'm sure he seen spots for an hour. He is such a ham. He loves to have his picture taken.

April 22, 2010

112/365 Purple Beauty

This is such a pretty flower. I don't even know what they are. It grows wild in my front yard. It's a shame to mow them down, but they are in the middle. I wonder if I can re-plant them somewhere else?

April 21, 2010

111/365 Drive By Sighting...

My husband and I love to go for rides and look for deer. She was just standing there we think, waiting for us to take her picture. She stood there for a good two minutes, almost saying, "take the picture already". Then she just walked away. What a beauty.

110/365 The Michigan State Flower...

I guess Michigan is not the only state to have these "lovely" flowers, but we sometimes think we're the only ones who can grow them so well.

They should be declared our State flower, we have so many of them.

109/365 Scoopy Doo's

This is the ice cream shop in our little town of DeWitt. It has great ice cream and is a gathering place for several different generations. The kids like the video machines upstairs and the Seniors like to just come and talk.

108/365 Something Old

I love this door on our neighbor's barn. I love barns in general, but this door has so much character.

107/365 My Patty...

This is my daughter. She is beauitful. She looks like her mother.

April 16, 2010

106/365 My Better Half...

Some people say that Thom looks like Santa Claus. I say he's the best thing that happened in my life. He's my best friend, my soul mate and my lover.

April 14, 2010

104/365 The Way It Once Was...

We found this old bike in an old barn and my husband had to have it.

April 13, 2010

103/365 The Apple

God's perfect fruit. Only God could create such a beauty.

April 11, 2010

101/365 Quarter of the Way There...

It's hard to believe I am more than a quarter of the way through the 365 day photo challenge. Yes, a quarter would be 91, but I didn't have a picture of a 91, but I did have this one. This is the address of a bank in downtown Lansing. I like how shiny the numbers are. They are different.

April 10, 2010

100/365 My Birthday

Yes, 4/10/10...the one hundredth day of my photo blog and my birthday. I can't believe I've made it this long. In place of gifts, you can give money.

April 9, 2010

99/365 Truly a Class Act

I found this poster of Audrey Hepburn in an antique store and had to take a picture of it. It may look a little wierd because I was looking up to take the picture. It was hanging a couple feet above my head.

I always thought she was a class act. I haven't seen many of her movies. I plan to change that in the coming year.

April 8, 2010

98/365 The Twins

While traveling though down town Ionia, I seen this building. I thought it was beautiful. I didn't want to call these twin towers. I thought that would be tacky.

April 7, 2010

97/365 Antique Still Life

I like this display of old bottles we found at an antique store in Lowell Michigan. I steal ideas wherever I can.

My husband and I were on one of our buying trips and had never been to Lowell. Lowell is about 30 miles east of Grand Rapids and about 50 miles west of Lansing.

April 6, 2010

96/365 Officer Tucker

Tucker doing what he likes to do, set on the top of the recliner and look out the window. He is a very good guard dog because on his perch he can see everything. I have never seen a dog who acts so much like a cat.

April 5, 2010

95/365 Planting Time

I guess I have a little farmer in me. I was thrilled when I seen the guy across the road plowing his field. I can not wait to start to see the little heads pop up from the dirt. I so want spring to be here. I guess you can't tell.

April 4, 2010

94/365 Easter

As Christians we want to remind the world that Christ is the reason for the Christmas season, but to me Easter is a much more important event in Christian history. Yes, Christ was born and that's important, but without Jesus' death and resurrection we would be dead in our sins. We would have no hope.

Our mission is to share Christ with everyone, even if they don't want to listen.

April 3, 2010

93/365 Orange, Orange Every Where...

I love the color orange. This umbrella reminds me of Spring. After the dull winter in Michigan, it will be nice to start to see some color again.

The color orange is my daughter "signature" color. Just about everything she owns is orange. She even has an orange guitar.

April 2, 2010

92/365 Spring May Be Here...

When you see all the cool cars start coming out of storage, you know Spring is here.

April 1, 2010

91/365 Employee's Entrance

The writing above the door says "Employee's Entrance". The door is on the second floor. Happy April Fool's day.
